Updated ExpenseCloud iPhone App v1.4

Posted on 11. Nov, 2010 by in News & Updates

Update – We pushed another new version (V1.4.1) to Apple for approval last night. We have updated the pictures below with this new release. Key features are the speed of the app, custom categories created online appear in your category list,  and new receipt tab (now you can view those unassigned receipts and attached to expenses)

Been a busy week for us on our mobile apps. We updated you last week on the new version of our Android app. We are now excited to announce the same for iPhone (you can get the app here or type in ExpenseCloud from the AppStore). Features between the two mobile platforms are pretty much identical. The major features in this new iPhone release include the ability to create, submit and approve expense reports within the app.  Additionally we add a feature that differentiates us from competitors – submitting directly to FreshBooks, NetSuite Employee Center or Intacct Time & Expense. If you use these apps, ExpenseCloud is a must have! Here is the list of what we added (again identical to our Android release last week).

Create Expense Reports

With a few click, create an expense report on the iPhone with any of your business expenses. The report will contain all your receipts images also (btw – we support having MULTIPLE receipts per expense). Reports can be named, saved or submitted right from the phone.

Submit Expense Reports

Submit expenses that are created right from the iPhone or ones we created for you automatically each week.  Here are the various ways you can submit the report now within the iPhone App.
•    Send to a Bookkeeper (via email)
•    Send to an Approver (via email)
•    Export directly to your FreshBooks account
•    Export directly to your NetSuite Employee Center account
•    Export directly to your Intacct Time and Expense account

The simplest way to send your expense report is by sending it directly to your approver or bookkeeper. To do so, all you need is a valid email address. Your approver will receive an alert your expense report is ready to be approved via email, including a copy of the PDF expense report template. All they need to do is log into their ExpenseCloud account to approve the report.  The great news is they can now approve it directly from the mobile app too!

Please note Freshbooks, Intacct and Netsuite must be set up at Expensecloud.com for it to show up in your export list

Approve Expense Reports

ExpenseCloud iPhone app allows you to approve or reject the report right from your iPhone to speed up the expense reimbursement process. Approvers can view all the receipt images that were sent along in the report and understand what has been pre-paid by the company. Once the report is approved, it can be forward to another approver or bookkeeper.

Lastly, a special thanks to all the users who gave us feedback. We would not be successful without that critical market validation! Let us know what you think of the new app.

Thanks,

Eric

I am a contractor who has employee business expenses, At year end I file a 2106 with the IRS along with a Schedule A and 1040 long form. I have to keep a home office for my work but get paid by check directly from the company or thru a contracting firm. I only receive W-2′s from my employers. I receive a per diem to help pay for my expenses and travel to and from my work location. Also I must keep receipts, income and expenses separate for each state I work in. If you can gear the program to suit the needs of people who do this sort of contracting work, which some call consulting work, it would really help. We do not all work from a cookie cutter form. With more and more people contracting to work these sort of programs need to keep up with the times. Your app is a good app but I wouldn’t call it great because of the reasons stated above. Also there is no mention as to whether anyone in your company employees or other contracted parties will see my information and be sorting through it to organize these receipts, etc. I noticed a statement listed by similar apps that have you accept or decline a statement that mentions the way they process the information you put into the app. I saw no mention of this when I accepted your app download.
